The participants will learn about yoga and meditation how they can use it in their everyday life so they can benefit from various and healthy effects of yoga on body and mind of the adults as well as their young learners so they can prevent illnesses of the body and mental diseases caused by stress and fast way of living in today´s world.

YOGA REALITY course is aimed for teachers and school staff from pre-school level to primary, secondary, vocational, adult and special needs education, staff of non-government organizations, government and policy makers and company staff. Non-native English trainers expecting participants to have at least B1 level of English proficiency.

METHODOLOGY

Yoga comes from India to western culture and schools more and more often due to amazing benefits on body and mind of leaners of yoga. Teachers keep travelling to Indian gurus to receive their wisdom and methods on how to tranquilize body and mind and live and maintain a healthy lifestyle and then they share this wisdom in their countries. We will learn a bit of history and philosophy of yoga and meditation and we will enrich our western culture with these benefits of yoga and meditation. All of us are on our own path to free our mind and body from negative patterns which have bad impacts on our mental health and our body.

As the life pace of western life style is faster and faster and adults as well as children use more computers and new technologies in their work/schools in their every day's life. Sitting on a chair is not always a healthy way for their bodies. To be sitting hours and hours in front of the screens/boards have dramatic impacts on us. We bend our bodies and adopt unhealthy body postures. Adults and children often eat fast food because they are not aware of their bodies and quite often suffer from obesity and stress and anxiety. Teenagers often suffer from eating disorders as well due to the internet and culture focused on body and perfectionism. Their body posture curls, people suffer from different illnesses since their inner organs don´t have enough space to work properly as they should. We will focus on learning how to adopt a healthy way to stand/sit/move and feed ourselves properly. Office Yoga/Classroom/Outdoor yoga will help us with that so it could be used at schools on a daily basis.

The learners will adopt different sequences of yoga asanas-yoga poses. Which should help the learners of yoga to maintain a healthy, strong and flexible body. Our bodies should be treated well since the early age. Our body is our temple. Once we practice the asanas-yoga poses, it´s called purification of the body. This leads to purifying the mind as well. People´s mind is often bombarded by constant information from social networks, Tv, advertising, radio. Both adults and children get often addicted to new technologies and various information. Due to this attachment our bodies and mind suffer. There is no space for creativity then. It´s great when we learn to consciously choose the information which we want to absorb in our mind and which information is so called “junk food” of the mind.  Before you can learn any subject at school it´s important to get the mind of the young learners ready. Young learners are often restless.

Pranayama is a great technique how to still someone´s mind. But if the teachers themselves don´t know how to work with their mind and purify it so they maintain great well-being. It´s a problem to start an educating process itself. Teachers should not to bring the stress and anxiety in a class. It´s great for teachers themselves to learn about their mind at first and learn how to purify it by meditation techniques. They create a channel between learners and themselves. Learners can stay now and here after meditation.  The learner is able to receive any other knowledge needed for his/her growth once the channel is set up.

In addition, participants will work and receive a huge amount of documents to improve their knowledge in the different areas integrated in the course. At the end of the course, the company will provide the participants an attendance certificate including the detailed information about the course, e.g. title, programme and schedule. In addition, a Europass Mobility Certificate can be added on request.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

We will learn Yoga asanas and their modifications so anybody can benefit from the healthy effects of yoga. As teachers we want to stay physically and mentally healthy as long as possible. We want our learners to adopt healthy habits as well. Yoga is not just for skinny, flexible people and not just for women as people sometimes think so. In India it used to be a men´s thing in the past. Even disabled people and young children can find their own modifications of Asanas. Once the body is connected with breath it´s called meditation in movement. Step by step we will learn how to meditate in a sitting position. In detail, the specific objectives of the course are:

  • To strengthen our bodies and minds (build a regular habit for our own practice and try to practice yoga with young learners)

  • To make our bodies and mind flexible since the world is changing constatntly and we need to be able to adapt to changes of the world (flexible body – flexible mind)

  • To learn how to practice or meditate within any subject being taught at school when necessary to get concentration and to stay on track for education

  • To strengthen European collaboration among – past, present and future– participants.

Thanks to this course the participants will:

  • Learn how to maintain peace in their body and mind and reduce the level of stress

  • Discover various asanas and pranayama techniques which will help to purify body and mind

  • Realize yoga connects people and opens hearts when they get to the essence of their soul which is always pure just like a little baby

  • Yoga brings freedom to your body and mind. Once you get rid of bad pattern of the body you start feeling lighter and full of energy and free to do anything. Since you don´t suffer from lack of energy. The same way it works with your mind, after practicing yoga you feel free and you are not stuck in the past neither in the future and you are capable of anything new and more creative since you are in the moment.

  • Make contacts with new partners interested in developing European Projects through specific networking activities.
